The “NEWCOMER” in machining: the new DMU 90 C machining centre at AWB

In the world of modern manufacturing technology, there is a new star on our horizon – the DMU 90 C machining centre, which has recently arrived at AWB. With this recently acquired machine, we have not only taken a further step towards efficiency and precision, but we have also expanded our production capacities in the field of machining. Let’s take a closer look at this technological masterpiece and discover how it supports our manufacturing processes.

DMU 90 C is more than just a new machine – with its state-of-the-art 5-axis control, it offers unrivalled versatility and precision. This additional machine enables us to produce complex components with incredible accuracy and in the shortest possible time. This not only speeds up our production processes, but also significantly improves the quality of the end product.

For us, the high capacity of DMU 90 C is reflected in its higher cutting performance. This can be guaranteed by the heavy-duty cutting package used. For example, the powerful motorised spindle with 430 Nm and 52 kW of power. As we mainly, but not only, machine high-temperature resistant materials such as Inconel®, Hastelloy®, Nimonic® or iron aluminides, this 5-axis machining centre fits in very well with our production spectrum in the machining sector. In addition, this may open up further opportunities for us in the production of components for various branches of industry.

Another remarkable advantage of DMU 90 C is its “state of the art” automation function. The machine is equipped with an intelligent tool and pallet changing system, which not only increases efficiency but also minimises downtimes. This enables us to process even complex orders with tight deadlines precisely and on time.

At AWB, we have always focussed on keeping up with the times and ensuring this in the field of machining with up-to-date machinery. The DMU 90 C machining centre is the latest proof that we are continuously investing in our production facilities in order to be able to offer our customers premium quality products. This machine is also integrated into our IT network, which fulfils the latest IT security standards according to PRAISE.

The introduction of DMU 90 C is another consequent step in our company’s history to keep our finger on the pulse of production with new machines and to continue to do so in the future. This “machine module” is therefore also an important part of the overall development within AWB.

The new 5-axis machining centre is primarily planned for machining of current components in the future and also components that are as yet unknown, but which will most likely all be used for hot gas parts. We are convinced that on this machine, too, perfect components for new systems and for maintenance and service in the area of combusters and compressors, HP blades, hot gas parts such as RCA air ducts or valves for all steam or gas turbines we are familiar with can be manufactured. Examples include machines such as SGT5-4000F, SGT5-8000H, GT13, GT24 and GT26 .
